End Of August
And suddenly, somehow, it’s the end of August. It’s a bittersweet feeling knowing summer has come to a near end.
The summer of growth, new experiences, and so many opportunities. The summer I met so many new people. The summer I moved to a new place. The summer that when I first arrived, it felt like it was going to last forever.
I think that’s the funny thing about summer. You spend so much of it waiting for the next thing. The next weekend, the next sunset, the next night out, the next adventure. Then one day, you look around and realize you’re already living the memories you’ll miss.
Somewhere along the way, a new place started feeling familiar. Faces that were once strangers became people I look forward to seeing. Ordinary days became some of my favorite ones.
There were slow mornings and long nights. Coffee runs, beach days, spontaneous plans, and conversations that lasted longer than they were supposed to. There were days that felt like they would never end, and somehow, those are the days I wish I could have back.
This summer taught me that sometimes the best parts of life aren’t the things you plan. They’re the little moments in between. The people you meet when you aren’t looking for them. The places you stumble upon. The plans you make at the last minute. The nights you don’t want to end.
And maybe that’s why the end of August feels a little strange.
Because it isn’t just the end of a month. It’s the realization that a season of life is changing.
But if there is one thing I’m taking with me from this summer, it’s gratitude.
For the people. For the places. For the memories I didn’t know I was making. For all the little moments that made this summer feel like something I want to remember.
I’m not quite ready to say goodbye yet.
So here’s to the last few weeks of summer. To squeezing every bit out of the days we have left. To one more sunset, one more late night, one more spontaneous plan.
And when summer comes to an end, I think I’ll let myself be a little sad.
Because sometimes being sad that something is ending is just proof that it was meaningful.
